Launched in 1961, the E-Type Jaguar displayed the superb lines of its illustrious ancestry. Built to succeed the XK range, the model's sleek and flowing form was an immediate sensation. Originally powered by a 3.8 liter engine and later upgraded to a 4.2, the car also received four wheel disc brakes and fully independent suspension. The E-Type gained even more superior performance in 1971, when the 5.3 liter V12 (Jaguar's first new engine since the debut of the XK 120) was made available. With 241 horsepower and the smooth V12, the Jaguar was a refined yet exciting car. Prior to 1971, only Ferrari and Lamborghini provided this combination, but with less refinement and at a much higher price.
The 1973 E-Type on offer by the original owner has covered just 31,483 miles since new. The car originally cost $9,713 and was invoiced on March 6, 1973. The low mileage of the car makes this Jaguar a truly interesting property and warrants the attention of any E-Type enthusiast. Unlike many of the E-Types imported to the U.S., this particular example is a rare four speed manual, allowing the driver to utilize the powerful V12 to its maximum 241bhp.
This Jaguar roadster was originally kept in Georgia until around 15 years ago, when it moved to the West Palm Beach area. Over the years the car has received regular maintenance when and where necessary. The car has been repainted once and was re-upholstered quite recently. Other work has included attention to the brakes and the fitting of a new alternator and regulator. On a short test drive this February, the engine ran well. Overall, the car is very much as one would expect of an original car with low mileage. This car comes equipped with factory air-conditioning. The original maintenance and service handbook (with supplement) and lubrication chart are supplied with this lot. With low mileage and just one owner from new, this V12 roadster should appeal to Jaguar enthusiasts.
