Each vase of ribbed globular form decorated with aubergine-painted trailing foliage on a green ground and with red-painted finials, above a berried-laurel collar and on acanthus-headed paired goat's feet centered by a berried finial

Lot Essay

With their acanthus-wrapped pieds de bches and central berried finial, the bases of these vases share similarities with those of the Minerva-headed pot-pourri vases and covers sold by the Marquess of Cholmondeley, Works of Art from Houghton, Christie's London, 8 December 1994, lot 82.
