Circa 1785, the dial signed Crosnier a Paris, the case attributed to Robert Osmond
With circular glazed enamelled dial with Roman and Arabic chapters, the domed flared drum case with a ribbon-tied cresting, flanked by trailing berried foliage, the later movement stamped ABGS and MEDAILLE D'OR/PONS 1827

Lot Essay

Antoine Crosnier, (1732-after 1806), mitre on 1 March 1736 is recorded as having worked with Latz, Bonnet, Goyer, Vion and Osmond and his distinguished clientele included the marchal de Choiseul-Stainville, Prince Beloselski-Belozerski and the duc des Deux-Ponts.
A drawing by the bronzier Robert Osmond, No 39, showing a clock of closely related design, is illustrated in H. Ottomeyer/P. Prschel et al., Vergoldete Bronzen, Munich, 1986, Vol I, p. 184. A further related model with dial signed 'Etienne LeNoir Paris', of circa 1775-80, is illustrated in R. Mhe and H. M. Vogel, Horloges Anciennes, Fribourg, p. 191, no. 352.
