The 'C' Couronn poinon was a tax mark used in France between March 1745 and February 1749 on any alloy containing copper.

A closely related presse-papier is in the Jones Collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum, London (published in the Catalogue, London, 1922, no.179), whilst a further pair of identical form was sold anonymously at Christie's London, 23 June 1988, lot 4.
