Circa 1780, stamped ST
Cast in relief with a griffin amongst scrolling rinceau foliage on a pounced ground, the panel set within a beaded and bellflower frame with conforming acanthus relief panelled locking block, lacking handle and key, now mounted on a red velvet plinth, lacking handle, stamped ST, with printed label THE/SOMERSET/HOUSE/ART TREASURES/EXHIBITION 1979/exhibit No/F76 and 498
