Circa 1763, the Savonnerie panel probably woven by Pierre-Charles or Nicolas-Cyprien Duvivier, after Henri-Horace Roland de Laporte
Depicting a still life of an ormolu-mounted blue Chinese porcelain vase, a globe, books and musical scores scattered across a table top, a tasseled curtain behind, the associated early Louis XV frame carved with C-scrolls and husks on a hatched ground, the frame reduced in size to fit the Savonnerie panel and rebacked
43in. (110cm.) high, 34in. (87.5cm.) wide including frame

Lot Essay

This Savonnerie panel is directly inspired by the painting entitled 'Vase de lapis, sphre et musette,' executed by Henri-Horace Roland de Laporte for his admission to the Paris Acadmie in 1763.
An identical panel, now in the Muse des Arts Dcoratifs, Lyon, is attributed to the Duvivier's in P. Verlet, The James A. de Rothschild Collection at Waddesdon Manor, The Savonnerie, London, 1982, p. 314, fig. 191.
