A LOUIS XV ORMOLU-MOUNTED TULIPWOOD AND MARQUETRY TABLE EN CHIFFONNIERE
Circa 1765, stamped twice LAPIE and once JME
The waved rectangular galleried top with molded edge enclosing a central cartouche with a ribbon-tied spray of flowers within C-scroll borders, the shaped bomb frieze similarly inlaid and incorporating a drawer to one side and a slide with velvet-lined writing-surface to the center, on cabriole legs headed by acanthus C-scroll angle mounts, the waved rectangular undertier with similar marquetry panel, the plain moulded chutes trailing to foliate scroll sabots, the drawer with printed label 'COLLECTION DE MONSIEUR LE BARON HENRI DE ROTHSCHILD' and in ink 'Fr.91,' the underside with torn paper label inscribed in ink Salon Bleu rez de chausse and with paper label inscribed in chalk '5'
