The first oval, decorated with striped panels within stiff leaves borders, the sides with trophies, marked with prestige mark imitating the charge of Julien Alaterre; the second rectangular, the cover set with a rocaille-carved mother-of-pearl panel, the hinged cover opening to a fitted interior with two mother-of-pearl interior covers, with mirror and baluster-handled brush, apparently unmarked
