Both cup and saucer finely painted with a balloon flying through the sky above a landscape, the wide dcor dentelle border of puce flowerheads with tiny green stems within bands of puce zig-zag enclosing green flowerheads (2)

Lot Essay

The decoration on the present cup and saucer is almost contemporary with the advent of hot air ballooning; the first successful launch was made by Joseph-Michel and Jacques-Etienne Montgolfier in 1783.
