The arms are those of Bassett of Tehidy, Cornwall, impaling Prideaux of Netherton, Devon, for John Pendarves Bassett, born in 1713 and his wife Anne, daughter of Sir Edmund Prideaux, baronet. They were married in 1737. Mr. Bassett died in 1739 leaving a posthumous son.

John Barbe registered this mark, his first, in 1735 (Grimwade 1126). His second mark, which presumably superceded this one, was registered in 1739. Since John Bassett was married in 1737, it is reasonable to assume that this coffee pot was made on the occasion of his wedding.
