8o (188 x 114 mm). Engraved additional title-page (mounted on front flyleaf), 9 (of 15?) inserted engraved plates (8 folding), and numerous engravings in text. (Imperfect: lacks some plates and portrait noted in Krivatsy, a few minor marginal chips or short tears.) Contemporary calf (rebacked). Provenance: William Thomas (inscription on engraved title dated 1693); F.D. Stephens (gift inscription from James Nash Esq., dated 1818, on front flyleaf).
A later revised edition of Bartholin's classic work. Bartholin, son of Caspar Bartholin, a distinguished Danish physician, is noted for his important discovery of the lymphatics and his work on circulation.
