A YORUBA EQUESTRIAN FIGURE

Horse standing on oval base wearing full trappings, downward cast head, flaring nostrils and open mouth, rider sitting with straight posture astride horse with elegantly elongated torso, wearing striped short sleeved tunic flared at the bottom, revealing pants only at ankles, wrists and neck adorned, beautifully proportioned face with large features, almond shaped eyes with pierced pupils, full nose and lips, face with three vertical lines on forehead and three horizontal lines on each cheek, coiffure with small side tail pulled to the left, figure holding ceremonial knife in right hand, 21¼in. (54cm.) high
