AN IATMUL FOOD HOOK

The flat shaft with broadly scalloped sides, the top portion decorated with a stylized human head, the bottom a series of concentric arcs and bird heads, the hook with two points at right angles, a knob at the bottom, surmounted by a round human head with prominent triangular nose, the eyes with concentric circles, the top of the head tapering to a point and pierced for suspension, the back similarly painted and incised, black, white, red and yellow pigmentation, 53½in. (135.9cm.) high
