A rare gilt-brass clasp, with matching parts, the centre section mounted with St. Patrick's Star in white metal, gilt and enamel (enamel somewhat defective), the loops as for Royal Irish Fusiliers (Ryan Fig. 233).

This clasp belonged to Major General Sir Lionel Stopford KCVO, CB who, after service with the Wexford Militia and Sherwood Foresters, joined the Irish Guards as a Major on its formation.
