A Memento of the Gordon Relief Expedition
A porcelain plate (9in. diameter), bearing a humorous view of the Gordon Relief Expedition. On one side of the Nile, Gladstone, carrying an assortment of baggage labelled GOM, announces I am afraid that, as at Sinkat and Tokar I shall be too late!, while across the river, in the distance, the head of General Gordon, wearing a tarboosh, hovers above the rooftops of Khartoum; together with a cloth-bound copy of Volume II of BRITISH BATTLES by James Grant
