A Victorian Officer's 1834 Pattern Sword of the 1st Life Guards

A fine example with straight 39 in. (99 cm) blade by HENRY WILKINSON (No. 28788) etched with foliate decoration, reversed VR cypher, 1LG monogram within the Garter and inscribed with battle-honours DETTINGEN, PENINSULA, WATERLOO, TEL-EL-KEBIR and EGYPT 1882, standard steel guard mounted with brass embellishments and 1LG monogram, wire-bound fishskin grip, with stepped brass pommel, gold-embroidered leather sword knot, in steel scabbard with domed brass bands and steel chape (incorrect fit).
