A Captain's scarlet Full Dress tunic, pre 1881, with gilt buttons inscribed 1st CIE, blue velvet facings, embroidered gold Star and Crown on ends of collar and Captain's rank-distinctions on sleeve-ornaments, but (apparently) silver cord and braid decoration, and twisted loops on shoulders, terminating in "Engineer knots" and bearing Grenades in gold embroidery
