A rare and highly important helmet, with bright plated steel skull, peak and comb, richly ornamented with gilt fittings, gilt rayed plate bearing the Royal Arms (with Electoral bonnet above the Hanoverian inescutcheon) and battle-honours PENINSULA and WATERLOO, chin- scales each of ten plates, on velvet backing, secured by large lion's-mask ear-bosses and terminating in a small buckle and leather strap (the latter defective), the comb fitted with massive black bearskin crest, the helmet retaining its deep internal headband of black leather
