Private A.B. Swales, aged 25 years, from York, died of wounds on 29.9.1918. He was hit by machine-gun fire during the laying of telephone wire at Epernay, near Cambrai, while serving with the 9th Battalion, West Yorkshire Regiment and is buried in Bucquoy Road Cemetery.
