Private James Gourlay, aged 50 years, embarked for France on 29.11.1914. Later transferring to the 2/Hampshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 6.8.1915 in Gallipoli. He is commemorated on the Cape Helles Memorial. A Group named to an Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire man and subsequent Gallipoli casualty is probably unique.
