Captain George Baring, [K.H.], entered service with the King's German Legion in 1808 and was promoted Lieutenant on 13.7.1811, then Captain on 20.11.1815 from which date he served on the Staff as Brigade Major. During this time he served in the Hanover Expedition of 1805, the Baltic between 1809-13, the South of France between 1813-14, the Netherlands in 1814 and at Waterloo where he was slightly wounded on 18.6.1815. Shown on British Army Half-Pay from 24.2.1816, he transferred to Hanoverian Service as a Captain, 2nd Regiment of Dragoons. He was admitted as a Knight of the Guelphic Order and was in receipt of a Waterloo Medal and the Hanoverian King William's Cross.
