Lot Essay

Conductor Edmund Luck was born in East Peckham, London and enlisted in June 1869, aged 18 years, for service with the 23rd Foot, sometime thereafter transferring to the Commissariat. After his service in the Zulu War of 1879, he took part in the operations of the First Boer War 1880-81 and was discharged as time expired after nearly 23 years service with the Colours.
