(Raaf's) Transvaal Rangers:
Raised by Commandant Raaf, originally with a strength of 138 composed of bold Europeans and coloured men, the unit served with Buller throughout the Zulu War of 1879, and was present at the capture of Sekukuni's Mountain. Of 243 Medals issued to the unit, 122 carried the clasp '1879'.
