Corporal Harry Charles Collinson was killed in action on the Western Front on 30.11.1917, when serving in the 3/16th (Queen's Westminster Rifles) London Regiment. Research included with the lot throws further light on his demise: 'It appears that he with five others became isolated in an advanced gun post in the first rush of an enemy counter-attack. The party's ammunition became exhausted and Collinson volunteered to cross an exposed area and bring aid if possible. He did not get through, the post was eventually taken, the remainder of the party being killed or captured. There now appears no doubt that he fell soon after setting out on his perilous task'.
