Lady Dorothy Madeline Douglas was born in 1894, the only daughter of the 9th Marquis of Queensbury. During the Great War she served with the British Red Cross in both Britain and France. She was married in 1924 to Captain Esmond Brasnell Palmer, late of the Royal Scots.
