The Reverend Patrick Sinclair, D.S.O., was ordained to the Parish of Urquhart, Elgin in 1894 and joined the Army Chaplains Department in 1901, gaining advancement to Chaplain to the Forces 3rd Class in 1911 and 2nd Class in 1916. Pre-War attached to the Morayshire Seaforths, he arrived in France as Senior Chaplain to the 51st Highland Division in 1915. Wounded in March 1917 and Mentioned in Despatches in the following December, he was taken P.O.W. during the German Spring Offensive of March 1918. Sinclair was repatriated in early November 1918.
