The Reverend Michael Strange Milliken was born in Waterford, Ireland in August 1920 and educated at Merchant Taylor's and Pembroke College, Oxford. The advent of hostilities found him appointed to an Emergency Commission in the Indian Army and he was advanced to Lieutenant in October 1942. Subsequently engaged with the R.I.A.S.C. in Burma and the South East Asia operations of 1945-46, he retired as a Major in the following year. Milliken did not take Holy Orders until the early 1960s, having attended Wells Theological College, and was latterly Vicar of Chilworth and North Baddesley. He died in March 1982.
