The Reverend Archer Turner was born in 1888, the son of the Rev. Thomas Archer Turner, M.A., Vicar of Ickford. Educated at St. John's, Leatherhead and Queen's College, Cambridge, where he attained a B.A. Degree in 1909, he was ordained in 1910 and served as Curate of St. Andrew's, Earlsfield between 1910-15. Appointed Chaplain in the Royal Navy in March 1915, he continued to serve in that capacity until his death in 1932.
