Seaman Robert Lincoln was awarded his S.G.M. 'For rescuing, with much difficulty and great danger, eight persons out of 13, who formed the crew of the Zemira of Leghorn, wrecked on Newcombe Sand' (P.R.O. Board of Trade Annual Return of Wrecks for 1858 refers).
