Able Seaman George Moore was awarded his R.H.S. Medal for saving the lives of two fellow crew members from H.M.S. Simoom in Trincomalee Harbour, Bombay in 1858 - both had got into difficulties while bathing. He qualified for his China Medal for service aboard the same ship (P.R.O. ADM 171/34 refers).
