Sub-Officer Glyndwr Williams received his first Bronze Medal in 1948 for rescuing a ewe and two lambs at Cwmmerau and a Bar for similar services in 1951, when he went to the rescue of two dogs which had fallen over the cliffs at Constitution Hill, Aberystwyth. His Silver Medal, awarded in early 1950, was for his courageous rescue of a ewe and a lamb which were trapped on a cliff face at Tyllwyd Farm, Cwmystwyth - on this latter occasion Williams sustained abrasions and cuts after a 20 foot fall (The Animal World, April 1950 refers).
