S.G.M. For the wreck of the Faversham ketch Confido; Robert Sullivan, Boatman, with five associates, all of the Sutton Coastguard Station, Kingston, Dublin 'made three attempts to help the stranded Confido, each time launching the Station Boat under great difficulty and considerable risk owing to the heavy sea running' (P.R.O. The small-sized Sea Gallantry Medals were authorised early in 1904 and all recipients of the previous larger Medals awarded since the accession of King Edward VII were permitted to exchange them for the new pattern; Robert Sullivan and his five colleagues had been presented with their original awards on 5.6.1903.
