Sold with a quantity of original documentation, including the recipient's Memorial Scroll; several wartime photographs and two letters of condolence; together with other family documentation relating to Lieutenant C.E. Greaves, H.A.C. and Private G.P. Ware, 16th Battalion, London Regiment.

M.C. London Gazette 10.12.1919 'For marked gallantry and leadership at Floursies on 8 November 1918. He was in charge of the left support Company when the attack was held up by heavy machine-gun fire. He pushed forward with his Platoon and succeeded in capturing six enemy machine-guns which were holding up the advance. Before reaching these guns he was twice wounded, but carried on and led the charge'.

Lieutenant Eric Greaves, M.C., who was decorated for his services while attached to the 2nd Battalion, Royal Dublin Fusiliers, died of wounds and influenza on 21.11.1918. He was interred in the St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen.
