Warrant Officer Alfred Herbert Bell, M.B.E., was a pre-War regular in the West Yorkshire Regiment and served in the 11th Battalion from 1915-18, including operations in Italy for which he was awarded his M.S.M. (London Gazette 2.6.1919 refers). Joining the Royal Air Force in 1920, he was awarded his L.S. and G.C. Medal as a Corporal in 1937 and advanced to Warrant Officer on the outbreak of hostilities. Subsequently employed at various stations within the U.K., he was awarded the M.B.E. in June 1942 and left the Service in 1946.
