EVEREST 1953

This picture featured in a Northern Aluminium Company advert in The Times on 4 July 1953. The picture depicts Sir John Hunt, who successfully led the Everest expedition in 1953, using a revolutionary Aluminum ladder to negotiate crevasses and other obstacles. Hunt was knighted for his achivements, and later played a leading role in the foundation of the Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.
