The drum-shaped case surmounted by an eagle with outspread wings perched on a thunder-bolt, the white enamel Roman and Arabic dial signed T.H. Le Roy a Paris, flanked by male and female classically draped figures shown reading personifying literature, the plinth with winged sphinx and Mercury masks, the twin-train movement with countwheel striking a bell

COMPARATIVE LITERATURE:
