By Thre Gruyère and Joseph Marius Rumus respectively, the figure of Monge shown standing and wearing a robe, orders to his chest, a bust of an Egyptian female and a stack of volumes at his feet, the base, signed and dated 1853 and further inscribed Reduction de la Statue /aelev/aee (Facade Nord) à l'hotel de ville de Paris, the philosopher shown standing and wearing a fur trimmed robe, holding a scroll inscribed Syntagma philosophicum a further scroll at his feet inscribed je vous Consueterai Comme loracle de la verite Christine reine De Suede the base further modelled with a celestial globe, volumes and instruments, the gilt bronze plinths engraved with the initials N.R.
