Lot Essay
According to O'Connor and Thaw, this rare first state was printed by Pollock and Theodore Wahl. Wahl recalled that only five impressions were pulled. This lot was a gift from Wahl to the present owner.

lithographs, circa 1935-6, one on each side of a sheet of wove paper, watermark FRANCE, inscribed 'Print from original Plate--Theodore Wahl', one side conforming to the illustration in O'C. and T. 1059 (P5) and described as the first state, the other impression not described or illustrated by O'C. and T. but showing significant additions to the stone and still showing the artist's name at bottom right, both apart from the signed and numbered edition of 60 illustrated in O'C. and T. 1060 (P5) as a state without the signature in the stone, with full margins, skinning along the reverse of the bottom margin edge, taped to the overmat along the reverse of the top margin edge, otherwise in very good condition, framed
