A FIVE-PIECE SILVER TEA SERVICE
Maker's mark of William Garret Forbes, New York, circa 1790
Comprising teapot, covered sugar bowl, tea caddy, cream jug, and waste bowl; each oval with beaded borders, the body engraved with bright-cut bands centering on each side a floral garland over a shield, one side engraved with initials JMDLM, with domed covers and urn-form finials, the circular waste bowl with square plinth, marked under bases, the tea caddy apparently unmarked, together with a silver teaspoon and pair of sugar tongs (now broken), each engraved JMDLM, each with maker's mark of of W.G. Forbes
The teapot 12in. long overall; gross weight 70oz. 10dwt.
