A pair of soup plates and a butter plate, all with the arms of the King of Prussia beneath a crown in the center, the rims with floral swags suspended from gilt, pink and blue bows and edged in iron-red keyfret

Lot Essay

Probably made for the marriage of the eldest daughter of King Frederick William II of Prussia, Frederica Charlotte, Princess Royal, to the Duke of York, second son of King George III. See D.S. Howard, op. cit., p. 640.
