Lot Essay

The arms on this service were designed by Francesco Bartolozzi for the Count da Barca (1754-1817), who had a distinguished diplomatic career in Europe before moving to Rio de Janeiro with the Portugese court in 1808. See N. de Castro, op. cit., p. 185.
