Decorated in cobalt blue front and back with a sunburst medallion containing the Sacred Monogram of the Society of Jesus with the cross above and three nails below

Lot Essay

Emblems of the Society of Jesus, founded in 1534, were among the very first Western motifs to appear on Chinese porcelains.
