A MASSIVE MANDARIN PALETTE FIVE-PIECE GARNITURE
Circa 1785
Comprising a pair of beaker vases and three baluster vases and covers, each colorfully enamelled with detailed Chinese family scenes set in lakeside gardens, one side with a boy playing with his spotted dog as his mother shades his head with a fan, a pair of crane standing nearby, the other side with four ladies at a table, one feeding a small pet animal, and a seated grandfather at the side holding a pet bird, all above small scenes of chicken families on one side and ducks on the other, the sides with tasselled bird panels between landscape and floral panels, all edged in gilt scrollwork and reserved on an iron-red, grisaille and gilt Y-patterned ground
