Finely painted in the front with the Royal arms of England as borne by the Stuarts with the crest a crown on a helm surmounted by a crowned lion statant, encircled by the garter reading HONI SOIT QUI MAL Y PENSE and flanked by the lion and unicorn supporters who stand on a rose and gilt plaque inscribed DIEU ET MON DROIT, gilt scroll and shell borders and two grisaille and gilt floral sprays on the cover
