The rectangular lid centered with a quatrefoil reserve containing a lady and her attendants walking in the clouds and dragons, the whole flanked by trompe-l'oeil ends of a scroll lifting to a leather-lined interior, the front of the trunk centered with a mountainscape flanked by birds and cloud scrolls, each side decorated with two kingfishers swooping down onto flowering lily pads, the front set with quatrefoil lockplates
