The trunk circa 1880, the stand early 20th century
The demi-lune lid painted with an evening interior scene, lifting to a canvas-lined interior, above a central panel painted with a town scene, flanked by narrow vertical panels, each centered with an oval horse head medallion and a crossed whip and horn, each side painted with a scene of country roads and set with a semi-circular brass handle, the whole close-nailed, on a later stand with acanthus carved cabriole legs and ball-and-claw feet
