"Among the French Surgeons of the 19th century, Roux was second in importance only to Dupuytren" (Garrison-Morton-Norman 4456). Amongst his notable achievements were his work on staphylorraphy, the repair of rupture of the female perineum, and resection of the bone. This work was intended to be a 4-volume summary of all Roux's expertise, but the author died during the printing of Vol. I. A commission led by Paul Broca completed the publication of Roux's manuscript, but cut it from 4 volumes to 2. Waller 8268. (2)
