Details
Chteau Cheval-Blanc--Vintage 1934
Saint-Emilion, 1er grand cru class (A). Chteau-bottled
Re-labelled & re-capsuled at the chteau in 1995. Levels: three upper, five mid/upper and four mid-shoulder
Tasting note: One of the best 1934s. First tasted in 1978: Danish-bottled, exquisite. Next, in 1984: lovely glowing worn-tile red; delicate, exquisitly revealing, fragrant, ripe peaches bouquet; "old ivy", firm shape reminding me of the '71, good length. Then a magnum with similarly glowing colour; ripe, tea-leaf, singed bouquet, faded but not cracking up; a touch of sweetness and nice weight, firm, well-constructed, with beautifully behaved tannin and acidity.
