lithograph, 1944, on Auvergne, signed in pencil, inscribed 'épreuve d'essai', a trial proof (the edition was 10 plus 4 artist's proofs; there was also the unsigned book edition of 60), with wide margins, deckled on two sides, an inherent paper defect with attendant staining showing mostly on the reverse, a few very pale foxmarks in the margins, otherwise in good condition
