A fine fan, the leaf painted with an architect showing his plans and the building works to his patrons after an engraving by John Bowles after a French print after Lancret, the canepin verso with a weir in an extensive landscape, the ivory sticks carved, pierced and gilt with lovers and putti and chinoiserie figures, painted and backed with mother of pearl - 11in. (30cm.), circa 1750 (slight damage to leaf and one stick, some mother of pearl backing missing)
